About The Children’s Therapy Center, Inc.
Our Story
The Children’s Therapy Center, Inc. was founded in 1994 to serve families in the Webster area who were looking for thoughtful, specialized pediatric therapy for their children. From the beginning, our clinic has been built around a sensory integration–focused approach to pediatric therapy. Our work has always been grounded in research and shaped by decades of hands-on experience.
Over time, this foundation has grown into pediatric sensory and motor therapies designed to support children with sensory processing, motor, and neurological delays. Families in Webster, Clear Lake, and the surrounding Houston-area communities come to TCTCI because care here focuses on helping children feel regulated, engaged, and ready to participate in everyday life.
At our core, we believe progress happens when children feel safe enough to try, play, and learn—and when families are supported every step of the way.
Our Mission
Providing the children and families of this community with the highest quality pediatric therapy services in order to help each child reach their ultimate potential to function in all aspects of daily life.
Our Philosophy
We believe pediatric therapy works best when it is child-centered, relationship-driven, and grounded in strong clinical skill. Therapy at TCTCI is built around play, connection, and providing the just-right level of challenge so children can grow without feeling overwhelmed. Progress happens when children feel safe, engaged, and understood.
Families are an essential part of that process. Parents are welcomed into sessions, encouraged to ask questions, and supported with practical strategies so growth continues at home, at school, and in everyday routines. We don’t separate therapy from real life, we integrate it.
We also believe therapists thrive in an environment where they are supported and continually learning. Our team values mentorship, collaboration, and thoughtful clinical decision-making so that care remains individualized, effective, and aligned with each child’s unique strengths.
Meet the Owner
Susan Zapf, PhD, OTR/L, (known as Dr. Sue by families) is the owner and clinical leader of The Children’s Therapy Center, Inc. With over 30 years of pediatric therapy experience, Sue has dedicated her career to understanding how children’s sensory, motor, and emotional needs affect their ability to learn and participate in daily life.
Sue remains actively involved in our clinic, working directly with children and mentoring therapists on our team. Her hands-on role helps ensure that care stays thoughtful, individualized, and grounded in what works best for each child.
A Place Where Epic Meets Awesome
The phrase “where epic meets awesome” came from one of our kids. When Eli first walked into our new clinic, he looked around and said, “Wow, this is where epic meets awesome!” It stuck because it perfectly captures what we want children to feel here.
Our Core Values
Compassion for
Families
We understand how overwhelming it can feel when your child is struggling. We lead with compassion, listen, and meet families where they are because we understand it takes a team to support your child's journey.
Cutting-Edge,
High-Quality Care
As a specialized sensory-focused clinic, we are committed to providing high-quality pediatric therapy grounded in experience, research, training, and thoughtful clinical decision-making.
Child-Centered,
Playful Care
We follow each child’s lead, lean into their interests, and use play to keep sessions fun, engaging, and motivating—because children do their best learning when they’re enjoying themselves.
Family
Partnership
Families trust us because we communicate openly and consistently. We encourage parents and caregivers to be part of sessions, talk openly about what’s going well and what’s been hard, and learn strategies you can use all week long.
Real-Life
Progress
Therapy shouldn’t live only within the walls of a clinic. We are dedicated to helping children build confidence, independence, and skills that make daily life easier so progress shows up in real moments at home, school, and in the community.
