About Ms. Jocelyn: I didn’t start out planning to become an occupational therapist. But, while pursuing a degree in speech-language pathology, I discovered sensory-based OT and knew I had found exactly where I was meant to be! More than 20 years later, that passion is still at the heart of everything I do. My journey has included not only years of clinical experience, but also seasons of stepping back to raise my children and care for my parents. These experiences have deeply shaped how I support the families I work with today.
I believe one of my most important roles as an OT is to be a provider of hope. I see incredible potential in every child I work with, and I feel strongly about helping families see that too. Your children are capable of so much more than what may be visible right now, and it’s my goal to help bring that potential to life. Some of my greatest joys have been watching the children I’ve worked with grow into adults – graduating high school and moving on to the workforce, college, and the military. Those moments never get old!
I’m also a proud mom of three amazing children, spread across different stages of life. I often joke that I live in three different time zones constantly moving between their activities and am always a little jet-lagged!
Outside of my work, I enjoy traveling with my family (The Cook Crew), rooting for the Texas Longhorns, watching my oldest daughter perform in theater, and cheering on my sons at their baseball games. I love to read and have started many books over the years, though I’m often pulled away before finishing them. I like to think that beaches and books will be waiting for me in my next season of life.
If I had a Superpower: It would be the ability to snap my fingers and instantly have a spotless house – though with three kids, I’ve learned to embrace a little chaos along the way.
My Favorite Sensory Activity: Tactile play in rice and sand pits, and hands-on fun with shaving cream and all the fun swings!
